Abstract

The aim of wheat breeding is to improve the quality,
sustainability and productivity of wheat. The improvement
of wheat can be achieved through wide hybridization.
Wide hybridization is considered to be a useful tool in
plant breeding for creating new species, gene transfer or
induction of haploids. Techniques to produce haploids
that have been used in wheat include anther culture,
microspore culture and intergeneric crosses (Laurie
