Abstract

The implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity, which came into
force in 1993, requires a multi-pronged strategy. The paper outlines the legal
requirements, and suggests the elements that could form part of specific legal
proposals for the proposed Biodiversity (Conservation) Act, an umbrella Act.
