Abstract

Analysis of variance for nine quantitative characters in 45
genotypes of mungbeml showed significant variability. Primary
branches per plant, pods per plant and seeds per pod had high
genotypic coefficient of variation (CCV) coupled with moderate
to high estimates of he!'itability, expected genetic advance and
maximum correlated response in yield. This shows that effective
selection for improvement of these characters is possible and are
important for mung bean improvement
